If you’re a fan of Oasis, you’ll know that singer/songwriter Noel Gallagher is a lifelong Manchester City fan. So when one of most Manchester’s most famous sons speaks up about his unhappiness with the club, BBC listens. In a recent interview with BBC Radio Five Live, Gallagher voiced his displeasure about the imminent departure of Sven-Goran Eriksson.

When asked how well he thought owner Thaksin Shinawatra knew the game of football, Gallagher replied, “Well obviously not a great deal if he’s gonna get rid of Eriksson and I mean the only thing that would get him off the hook now is if he’s got Mourinho lined up…”

The interviewer at one point asks a great question that should be posed to Shinawatra. “The last time I spoke to you about Man City, there was no manager, there was no one buying season tickets. At that stage, if you’d offer Man City fans the choice of a top ten finish and beating United twice, what percentage would have taken it?”

Manchester City has made great strides under Sven and it’s really a shame that he’s being brushed aside. He’s a proven manager that has given the club class and has left it better this season than when he found it. It’s been whispered that he will be succeeded by Luiz Felipe Scolari. Mourinho would be the best choice but let’s face it, he’s not going to sign on to a mid table team.

Don’t cry Sven fans, it won’t be long before a top club grabs him and he’s back to work. Not all owners are oblivious to what the fans want–just most of them.
