Solution to England’s Midfield Problem

I’ve recently solved England’s problem of how to get Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard to coexist in the central midfield. You’re welcome. Don’t worry though, because I didn’t put a lot of thought into it. The answer is so painstakingly obvious that I bet you’ve already figured it out as well. Leave out Lampard.

It’s been suggested that Stevie G be the one to sit on the bench, but would that really be wise? Wouldn’t it be better to have the captain of Liverpool who was also in contention for the England armband to be in middle? Why would we want a 30 year old who kept his club in suspense all summer over where he was going to be this season instead of Captain Fantastic?

Sure Lamps has been in good form lately, but the same can be said for Gerrard. You could also say that neither really perform for England as they should. Months ago we saw a glimmer of hope when Gareth Barry hooked up with Gerrard in the midfield. This should be a regular occurrence instead of leaving Gerrard out or putting him in an unfamiliar left wing position. So please, for the love of Fabio, Gerrard IN, Lampard OUT.
