Fix your pitch, yo!

8:15 pm Champions League, Liverpool

The English Atletico? The Spanish Liverpool? The press will say anything to sound witty. Thankfully, I’m not the press. So here goes…

Robbie Keane loves life outside the UEFA Cup..

A draw with the added bonus of an away goal against a team like Atletico is nothing to shake your head at. The fact that we wasted so many of our chances & should of had the game on lockdown is something to shake your head at. It looks like the pitch at the Calderon needs some serious work (they might want to tap up the grounds keeper over at Villa Park when the window opens in January) but I’m 100% sure that had nothing to do with our rampant offsides.

Reina put in some serious work and thank the deity of your choice for that. Our defending was a bit sluggish but almost held water tight until our foil, Simao, potted on right as the clocked ticked it’s last tocks. Rafa talked about snapping this Portuguese boy up on more than one occasion in the past and each time I see him play, it’s apparent why. He’s spoiled our party on quite a few occasions in the past.

Really can’t complain though. Here I am crying like a little boy over offsides. Maybe I’m getting spoiled on come from behind victories and tense, last minute winners. Keane left Tottenham to play in the Champions League and bagged his second goal in the competition this season. Might help with the confidence with such a big match coming up. Perfect pass from Stevie and a job well done by Xabi to bust up the play. Pure class.

Speaking of pure class, it was nice to see Luis Garcia out and at it again. He’s been having a hard time getting into the first squad and for sentimentalities sake, I hope his performance tonight is going to help his worthy cause. If not, he’s always got that job modelling suits for H&M.

In other news, stocks in Chel$ki have yet to be affected by the current global financial crisis. Financial analysts are showing this as further proof that shit does float.
